Xiaokun (Cara) Wang

Dr. Cara Wang is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She also serves as the Assistant Director of Volvo Research and Education Foundation’s Center of Excellence on Sustainable Urban Freight System. Her research mainly focuses on transportation data analysis, especially in the domains of the interactions between land use, transport (both passenger and freight), energy and environment, and the socio-spatial dependence of travel behavior. Dr. Wang has published over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Dr. Wang got her BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from Tsinghua University inChinaand her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining RPI, she worked as Assistant Professor at Bucknell University for 3 years.

Dr. Wang serves on the editorial board of ASCE Journal of Urban Planning and Development, and Network and Spatial Economics. She also has been PI and Co-PI of numerous sponsored research projects.

As former Academic Affair Chair and current Vice President of Chinese Overseas Transportation Association, Dr. Wang organized several international conferences and symposiums, to promote interaction and collaboration between transportation professionals inChinaand theU.S.
